Skeeby Solar

Harmony Energy, under a joint venture with Ritchie Bland Energy have submited a planning application for a solar farm and ancillary development on land south east of the A6108 Darlington Road, Skeeby, North Yorkshire.

The site comprises two parcels of land; one to the immediate south east of the A6108, and one south of the A6018 to the south east of the village of Skeeby. The proposals comprise ground mounted solar PV development and ancillary development, including battery energy storage. The development would have a capacity to generate up to 40MW of low carbon electricity.

In December 2021, Ritchie Bland Energy and Harmony, together with planning consultants PWA Planning, invite the public to attend a consultation held online via Zoom. We invite members of the local community to leave feedback via this link: https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/825DKTR.

About the site

The site comprises two parcels of land; one to the immediate south east of the A6108, and one south of the A6018 to the south east of the village of Skeeby.

The proposals comprise ground mounted solar PV development and ancillary development, including battery energy storage.  The development would have a capacity to generate up to 40MW of low carbon electricity.

Planning permission is sought for a period of 40 years, after which the equipment associated with the development would be removed, and the site would revert to agricultural use.

If approved the site would deliver enough power for the equivalent of 11,455 homes offsetting 21,150 tonnes of CO2 per year and provide a Biodiversity Net Gain of 118%.
